BuzzFeed and Pop Music

It’s not often I get to use BuzzFeed as a reference for my students. But while learning about international pop musicians, I ran across this post from BuzzFeed.61APcLVzGML._SL1000_
I was blown away by a band call Tricot from Japan and G-Dragon from Korea. Some others were super interesting and have now been added to the rotation of tunes I listen to on a regular basis.

Grillin’

Recently my wife and daughter gave me permission to buy a grill. So I did my research and fell into the rabbit hole between two school of thought. Propane or Charcoal! I wasn’t sure, but when I considered the cost and flavor factors. I ended up going with charcoal.

The thing that was most interesting about the process was getting to know some websites about grills and cooking. BBQ Guys and America’s Test Kitchen led me to the grill I have today. (The Weber Performer Deluxe)

They were super informative and entertaining. The BBQ Guys videos are hosted byChef Tony Matassa. Although corny, I enjoyed the signature line that end all their videos. Check them our and you’ll see what I mean.

Christopher Kimball is the host of America’s Test Kitchen and just seems delighted to let other chef cook, test equipment and explain process. The way he facilitates conversation is just plain-old fun to watch.imgres

Both host seem extremely knowledgeable. I happen to be a big fan of listening to folks that know of which they speak and are passionate when doing so.

These words match my morning vibe. Thank you Edward Roads.

Morning sunshine splashed across my face as I dawdled about the pelagic place where crowds bustled and weighty trade ships once docked.
The sway of this me and my shadow moment was magnified by the frothy freshness of salty sea air which instantly invigorated an otherwise ordinary nature of breathing.

MTV, Grief and My Grandparents

imagesI’m sitting at home enjoying episodes of Ridiculousness on MTV and missing my grandparents. I realize how odd this must sound, but this show was put in front of me after my grandmothers funeral.

Venn DiagramAfter spending a week with my grandmother, where I watched as she slipped away from us. I boarded a plane hoping to just be able to sleep for a few hours. Instead I watched about four hours of this show, and laughed so hard I cried. It helped that I had just spent the past four days dealing with loss to prime the pump for tears.

Somehow this show and my grandparents are linked in my mind. So I will enjoy the show and the memories of my grandparents.IMG_3683
